Sleeveless Shirts +Bucket Hats (mini-drop). Crafted from Regenerated Denim Jeans & Denim Scraps

Hey hey KINGDOM! i just whipped up some denim one-offs. i created what i call Sleeveless Shirts, but some call them a vest or a waistcoat.  i also created a couple of denim scraps bucket hats, with the houses signature abzag stitching, in blue and one in black.

For this, mini-drop, the jump-off started with a mix of large bleached denim "test scarps" (from 2013), which i mixed with white selvage edge indigo denim large-cut scraps. The bleached scraps are frayed on all edges, as well as ripped & repaired in areas. The house signature abzag stitching, raw denim edges and white topstitching rounds out this design.

The shirt/vest hybrid, above and below is what i call a "one-off limited edition", no two are exactly alike but they are crafted similar with subtle detail differences. In working with this denim i was surprise to discover this denim has a bit of stretch, woven into the fabric. I discovered this in the finally stage of processing the denim garments. It was during the clipping of the large knotted fray from the fringed edges of the garment.

While i am not a big fan of stretch fibers, outside of knit fabrics (and even then i have my limits), this feature actually worked with the dirty-destroyed-denim code, a code considered in the crafting of each distressed denim design. #ThisIsCalledSharing... This "code" was worked out early on, when i was working on the creation of my first denim pieces in the late 70's (created for the club-kiddz, my first steady customers), during my club hopping days of the Paradise Garage... while studying Fashion Design @ Pratt Institute.

laying around in the studio were some regenerated denim jean scrap "parts" from deadstock vintage denim jeans, and some large white selvedge edge denim scraps. Naturally in my mind... "these two go together". The randomness of the assembled "parts", with consideration, is the conversation these materials along with the process, are having with each other.

Stitch, fray, pick, razor, wash, then fry-dry = the process.

FUN FACT: Did u know Denim is a weave not a color (originally).... WHO know?!?

(via Goggle) Yes, denim is a weave, specifically a twill weave. The twill weave creates the characteristic diagonal line seen in denim fabric. Denim is distinguished by its unique dyeing process, where only the warp threads are dyed, often with indigo, resulting in a blue-on-one-side appearance.
